Reminder: Its your time to be POPULAR

I am glad to inform you all that INTERVIEW season is here starting next week. It will continue till early January, 2018. I expect full support from all of you. Please come and interact with the new applicants, let them know about our program and answer their questions and concerns. Just think about the time when you were interviewing, and share your views.
We are also planning to run the slideshow of our residents and faculties to show the camaraderie between the residents and faculties, to show our scholarly activities ( presentations, posters and awards during major conferences or meetings) and last but not the least, hangouts (how we are enjoying our free time) to make them feel relaxed while they are waiting for their interviews. I encourage all of you to share as many pictures as possible.
You can iMessage, whatsapp, email, share drive or bring flash drive to me. We will try to show all the pictures with comments.

Thank you all for your support to make our program better!

NIH stroke scale (NIHSS) certification

Residents who are going to be on floor rotations in the next module are strongly encouraged to take the course and get certified in the next couple of weeks. The rest of the residents are requested to complete the training and submit their certificates within 30 days from today.

Please note that there are multiple levels of certification in the NIHSS. You are requested to sign up for and get certified in the first level only (Test Group A). After completing the training materials for this level you will have the option of requesting your own certificate of completion through the same website.

Google Suite For Education for all residents

Good news everyone – Google has accepted our application for a full Google Suite for Education account for our residency program! This gives us access to the entire suite of Google’s cloud-based software and educational tools for free. Take a look at what Google Suite for Education has to offer:

Google Suite for Education:
https://edu.google.com/products/productivity-tools/

Overview of Google Suite:
https://gsuite.google.com/

What this will entitle everyone in our program to is a private Google account (firstname.lastname@ubresidents.com) with access to Gmail powered e-mail services, google docs, unlimited file storage in google drive, and a whole host of other services. I am working to get our account to be compliant with HIPAA so that we can store patient sensitive information on there too if needed.

If you are interested in obtaining an account, please e-mail me privately and I will set you up with one.

Conference Schedule Issues

For anyone that may have been experiencing issues with accessing the conference schedule, the issue has now been resolved. You no longer need to sign-in with a google account to access the most updated copy of the schedule.

As a reminder, the conference schedule is no longer being e-mailed out. It will now be available at the following URL:

Module Conference Schedule

This will be updated to reflect the schedule for the current module throughout the year. Please be sure to review the conference schedule at the beginning of every module so that you know when you are scheduled to present. Contact the chiefs or Arlene with any questions. Thanks!

Intern Welcome Picnic

We are currently planning our annual intern welcome picnic! The likely date for this picnic will be Sunday August 20th, 2017, however we are waiting for confirmation from the local parks before we finalize this.

In the meantime, we would like to get a headcount for how many people will be attending. Please take a minute to fill out this form and let us know who you will be bringing along. Be sure to include significant others, kids, parents, etc if they will be joining you.

This should take you less than a minute to fill out, and your response will be very helpful to us. Please complete this form by tomorrow, Saturday August 12th, 2017.

Looking forward to seeing all of you there!

Reminder to submit abstracts for review early

A quick reminder to submit any abstracts you intend to submit to journals for publication for review as early as possible. It is a requirement that they be reviewed by Dr. Chrzanowski prior to submission.

Dr. Chrzanowski is happy to review them in advance of the submission date, but cannot guarantee that they will be reviewed if sent to him at the last minute.

Thanks for your understanding!

2017 ITE Exam Schedule

The ITE exam and coverage schedule has been sent out to your UB e-mail accounts. Please review it carefully and let me know if there are any issues. If you have not received it, please let us know as soon as possible.

Have a great weekend!

End of module exams are now online!

All of our end of module exams are now available online. Some of the benefits of the online version of the end of module exams include:

  • The program and residents will no longer need to coordinate a specific time and place to take the end of module exam. Exams can now be completed on any computer or mobile device, from anywhere
  • Exams will be automatically graded after submission, and the score will be available to you immediately
  • Feedback for all right and wrong answers will be provided after you submit the exam. So far this applies to all floor exams and some elective exams, but soon feedback and explanations will be available for all exams
  • Chiefs / seniors no longer need to manually grade exams – grading occurs automatically
  • Trees all around Western New York will thank us

You can access the end of module exams here: End of Module Exams (the link will permanently be placed under the “Quick Links” section of the homepage).

On the day of your exam, your chief and/or senior resident will be responsible for providing you with a one-time password to enable access to the webpage that contains link to the end of module exams. This password will be valid only on that day, and will change from month to month.

Given that this is a new process, please provide us with as much feedback as possible in order to help make this process beneficial for everyone.

Enjoy!
